I have 88 ranger with the carbed 2.0 and a five speed, but i don't have a tach. I found a guage cluster on ebay that has a speedo and tach, the ad says it will fit in an 84-09/87 ranger/b2.:dntknw:

Is this true or will any gen 1 cluster fit into any gen 1 vehicle? Its cheap and i really want a tach, plus my speedo and trip odo don't work on my cluster.

any idea if there will be a tach wire already in the wire loom in my dash and this will be plug and play, or do i have to run a wire to the coil?

any help would be greatly appreciated

For the Gen 1 Ranger or Bronco II. You will need to run a additional wire for the tach to work. The tach cluster is not plug and play.

All Gen 2 clusters innerchange and are plug and play. You can add a tach without any additional wiring.

1993 and 1994 clusters are the only ones that innerchange with each other. So if you are going to add a tach to either one of the years, you can only use a cluster from one of these years. They look the same as the Gen 2 cluster but are not.

You will have to get a cluster from one of those years(93-94). Make sure that it is from those years only. It will be plug and play after that.
