hey guys so i got a question. i found a bronco II in the junkyard with a rough country suspension lift. it has the rear lift blocks, drop brackets, drop pitman arm, front coils, shocks, steering stabilizer; i was wondering if that will fit my 90 2wd ranger, the bronco II is 4wd?

I know the crossmember underneath the engine that the brackets bolt to are different between the 2wd and 4wd, but I'm not sure if that will affect the fitment of the kit or not... Everything else will though. Not that you want the blocks.
 
yea i will see, the blocks im not to worried about, i got a 9 inch out back of my project truck, but if nothing works ill prob end up keeping it all anyway. i plan on one day having more rvbs than i can count.
 
are the twin traction beams the same length from a 97 ranger to a 90 for a 2wd truck? how about them being the same length from a 90 2wd ranger to a 4wd bronco II gen 2?

shit, i'd just pick up the bronco ii.. why lift a 2wd?

The Bronco II uses the same engine cross member no matter if it is a 2wd or 4wd. That is what makes converting a 2wd Bronco II into a 4wd Bronco II easy as sin. The only difference in the 2wd and 4wd Bronco II's is the passenger side beam bracket.


To answer the original question, the 4wd lift will NOT fit on your 2wd Bronco II. This would however be a great time to convert your 2wd Bronco II into a 4wd version.

no no i have a 2wd ranger, the 4wd bronco II was in the junkyard, i would have gotten it but money wise, not feasable plus no way to haul it or to store it. but are the brackets different enough that i couldn't drill new holes and have them work? and if that isnt possible how hard is it to make new ones, i got some 1/4 in steel i could use.



I already got the entire lift kit out, payed 90 for it, sweet deal. just the truck it is going on is back home, and i'm at school right now and wont be going home till thanksgiving.
 
The 4wd lift kit will not work on your Ranger. The 2wd Ranger does have a different engine cross member; I thought you had a Bronco II.

It will be impossible to make the 4wd brackets work on your 2wd.

you make no sense. first you say it will work, then you say it won't.

it will work on the ranger, however you need to swap the engine crossmember. and its a pain in the ass. and you need to use the front beams as well. (or get some 2wd bII beams)

Go back and read bud. I corrected myself thinking he had a BII before.
 
well crap, i guess i spent $90 and a 5 hours o work for bout nothin. o well, ill prob keep it and if i cant make something to make it fit, i figure ill prob get a bronco II someday.


but what is involved in removing and replacing the engine crossmember? rivits, bolts, does the whole engine have to be removed or can i just unbolt it and support it? i guess if i got one i would prob go get the one out from under the bronco II i got the lift from, so the front axle, dana 35 i think, would be out cuz i took it out to get some of the lift brackets

Sell it. Clean it up a bit and sell it for $150.
 
I never said they wouldn't fit on a BII 2wd. I said they wouldn't fit on a Ranger 2wd. Go back and re read my post slowly, if you read them normal speed, your slow brain doesn't comprehend.
