will 31's fit on an 88 ranger with a 2 or 3 inch body lift? also, the stock gears should be ok right?

Yes and gearing, maybe since you have an auto you may have 4.10s but it will be noticeably more of a turd.

what gears should i go to? this truck will be a daily driver/ playtoy in the snow and at my friends clubhouse. not a hardcore offroad truck. i would like to keep the gas mileage that it gets.

I just noticed you name has 5.0 in it. Do you in fact have a 5.0 in your ranger and if so is your tranny overdrive?

i had a 5.0 ranger a while ago. sold it and bought a mustang. it did have an overdrive tranny. i just picked this truck up tonight for 800. needs a power steering pump, front end allignment(might be a bad tie rod?) and the brakes need gone over.
