View Full Version : Paint Codes 9Y and 9P?

My Ranger (see avatar) is a 1984, two tone brown and tan. I am relatively certain that these were the original colors. My VIN tag shows 9Y and 9P as the colors. However I cannot find these codes ANYWHERE. Do you guys know anything about these codes??

your paint code isn't going to be on the vin tag...do you mean on the door tag? I can check the computer at work monday to see if it comes up with anything.

Here are the color codes
Desert Tan ........................................... 9P/5853
Medium Walnut Metallic Clearcoat ..............9Y/5858

you can also call up your local napa that carries martin senior urethane paint and they should be able to mix up the colors you need from the paint codes.their crossfire paint is cheap and the urethane is very durable.

Would you mind checking "ER" for me. The tag on my door lists that as being the color. The only paint that comes close to matching mine is Dupli-Color "Director Red".

1993 shortbed- paint code "DA"

1994 extended cab- paint code "KE"

1995 short bed- paint code "JA"

1997 long bed- paint code "YN"

DA is Caymen Blue Pearl, same as my truck, haha.

I may just have to find it. I pulled these off the dupont colornet program I have. there is a website I think it is paintscratch.com that has all the paint codes on it.
