clutch or synchros?

hey all, i just had a quick question.... i have a 98 ranger, with a 5spd, sometimes my trans doesnt want to go into gear, it just wont go in, its like theirs a stopper on it and wont let it go into gear, its my synchros not my clutch right?

As you try to push your shift lever into 1st gear ( while vehicle is stopped ) reach over and shut the engine off. Does the lever go into 1st ??? It's most likely the clutch slave cylinder.

could also be the input shaft hanging up on the pilot bearing.
