relocating leaf spring under frame for lift

What do you mean factory ride? How much lift do you want? There are other ways of getting a few inches of lift that would be much easier.

just use shackles man. $60 gets you 2" of lift, a better ride and more flex. and they're only an hour to install.

By keeping the factory springs and putting them under the frame you would get a few inches of lift. The same could easily be done with a block between the springs and axle. The other issue with going frame under is that your moving the spring perches on the axle aswell......

if its 4wd theres already the factory 2" block down there and stacking blocks is a BAD idea. even if its 2wd, adding a block will increase axle wrap and make the truck ride worse.
shackles cost nearly the same as blocks and perform and ride much better, theres no reason NOT to do shackles before blocks.

it a 4wd and it has the block i was thinking i could move the sping under the frame to get rid of the block and also add shocks on the outside of the frame. i saw on the explores that the spring mount under the frame i think it will be possible to use those bracket see how the are bolted on and would not be hard to remove

you would no longer have a factory ride, moving the springs inboard like that will cause more body roll.

plus the exploder frames are different, i doubt it would be anything like "bolt on".
it just seems like your tring to go the long way 'round here. there are much easier ways to accomplish exactly what your trying to do. but if your hearts set on it, dont let us stop you.

Explorer frames are wider in the rear than ranger frames. The springs are actually mounted about the same width apart, but since the explorer's frame is wider they had to mount the springs underneath the frame rails rather than beside it like rangers.
If you were to mount under then frame, it would definitely increase body roll and be unsafe. I agree with the others...go with shackles.

Just do the shackles or exploder leafs, they'll be much easier than messing around with moving mounts/perches etc...

it is a crazy idea but i like your willingness to be different. if you are willing to live with the possible consequences go for it. i would love to see another type of modification for RBVs. if its a dangerous modification please make note of what you did. you have proven its success or failure and show the down sides of moving the springs inward a few inches. we do not need some idiot blaming you after he rolls his RBV on the highway.
