Like I said a close friend of mine has a 1985 Ford Ranger. According to her the engine is blown and needs to be replaced. I dont know much about the situation. Supposedly its not fixable, or would cost more than a new engine to fix.
The Truck: 1985 Ford Ranger. Automatic.
Questions
1) Any idea what engine would be in this? I was told by a ranger owning friend that it should be a 2.3L 4cyl. After some reading I came up thinking it is carburated, is this true?
2) How difficult is an engine swap in one of these. I guess im looking for people who have done it who can give me a few pointers.
3) What kind of price am i looking at for a long block for one of these? Would I be better of buying a complete engine over a long block? What typically breaks on these?
4) How robust is the little auto in this guy, should I consider pricing out a new trans/manual swap?
Thanks for all the info guys!
