Buddy of mine has this car. It has a 2.3 4cyl in it. All of a sudden the other day it decided to start ideling at a way higher rpm--and will not calm down. Did a check on the throttle position sensor-it ohmed out correctly. Checked fuel pressure. It read 60lbs. Supose to be at like 30. Put in new fuel pressure regulator and motor still is ideling high. Did a spray check for a leaking intake gasket but showed no signs of improvement. Anybody got any ideas. We are currently stuck for ideas right now Motor runs great otherwise. Any help will be greatly apprecated.:dntknw:

Time to pull another one off the six-pack... remember, Tempos should be kept in a cool dry place until needed. :)

On a more serious note. Have you checked/cleaned the IAC? Try cleaning it with a little carb cleaner.

ok now thats funny :icon_cheers:

spaceghost: your fuel pressure probably tests high because the spec your reading is for fuel pressure at idle. since your engine is, in effect, not idling...the fuel pressure is much higher.

i would also check the IAC since they are pretty unreliable. but a sudden case like this makes me thing the computer lost a ground connection....

we will definately apply these idea and see what happens. I do agree that was pretty funny.:icon_rofl:
