Help engine question

if i put a tappet cam in my ranger and it had a stock roller will it effect anything?

i am assuming you are talking about a FLAT tappet cam, but why would you do this? did you get a free cam? if so, sell the free cam and put the money toward a new rolller cam with the profile you want, by replacing the roller followers with flat tappet you would be putting yourself back a generation in R&D. i dont even know if it would work, i assume so, but it would not be reccomended IF possible!
