How to get a take off.

On my mom 01 ranger I can not get the fule take off. It wont slide back with out hittin the rearend. I really need to get her truck back on the road. So plz help me out.
 
You mean fuel tank? It should drop straight down once you remove the straps...but you also have to remove the screws in the fuel filler neck...
 
I has a crossmember that the frount of the tank sits on. Witch has rivits in it. The frount of the tank sits on this crossmember. I have fought with it all day.
 
Can you rotate it to the side?

Not that it helps you now, but it is much easier to remove the bed than drop the tank.
 
why are you pulling the tank, it is easier to pull the bed off.
