hey guys.. ive got two candidates..both with only 105k miles on them.. 1988 towncar with a 5.0 or a 1987 2wd F150 with a 5.0 and automatic.. my truck is auto and i would like to keep it.. manual V8 mini trucks are a waste.. 4th gear burnouts are cool.. but dont help on the 1/4 mile.. its a 93 2wd.. so i was wondering if i could potentially use either axle? what about the driveshaft?? im going prerunner with it so wider would be better and i can get 5.5 inch rims for the back and 4.5 inch for the front.. so thats noit an issue.. and i guess i can just move the rear axle back with my four link setup to take up the distance of the longer shafts??

anyways.. are there any differences in the two trannys or engines?? what one do i get??

The Town car 5.0 has the crappy E6SE heads and the smallest hyd roller cam Ford made for these motors (sub .400 lift). The pickup 5.0 has the same basic long block as the HO motor, but lacks the roller cam. It should be a roller block though. They will both have the same transmission--AOD. As for the driveshaft, you cannot make a guess on that till after you have the engine and trans in place.

remeber the f150 has a massive efi intake and the oil pan has to be changed to the dual sump, and the accessories are the long ones, but they do clear everything, just gotta tuck the radiator
