what trans is in my 02?

3.0, 2wd....from the searching ive done, i think its a 5r55e but cant find any hard evidence on it. feels like it shifts 5 times :icon_confused:

is the trans in my truck a good one or not? thanks for the help :icon_thumby:

the 5R55E was only used behind 4.0's. you have either a 4R44E or 5R55W (not sure if that was used behind 3.0's or not).

if its the 4R44E, the 5th "shift" you feel is probably the torque converter lock-up...a lot of people mistake it for another gear.

You have the 4R44E. The 5R55W never came behind the 3.0. My opinion of the 4R44E can be found in my siggy. However, other people have had good luck and I tend to expect a lot out of my truck. Overall it's the weakest of all the electronically controlled Ranger automatics.
