Somebody please tell me how this works...


stay away. stay far, far away.

you clamp those bad boys onto two different loops of your coil springs and tighten them down, thus "squishing" the spring and lowering the vehicle. not only are the dangerous, but they increase pretention making your truck ride like ass.
 
Chances of them popping off are too high for comfort if you do your normal daily driving.


If you're going to take your truck to a show on a trailer and you need a quick "five minute" lowering job... then maybe. Even then, you shouldn't risk safety over the looks.



Do it right and get beams or control arms.

(I'm not saying that you're an idiot Crsvns90, but it's just safe to always state that.)
 
i agree with everything said above....ride like crap and really dont look that good...not much drop.
 
dont waste the money. save up for a true lowering kit
 
i agree a true lowering kit will cost alot more, but in the end it is worth it
 
No, it's not. Really.


Drop springs are getting cheap to find as well as being guaranteed to give you a certain reliable amount of drop.

It would honestly be better to just put another 500 pounds over each end of the truck to get it lowered.


Look around online. I found a complete lowering kit for my ranger for $230. It's the best thing I've ever done for it too!
 
Cool! Those would be so exciting! No but really bad Idea to limit the springs like that. But I bet you could probably use those to compress the coils to remove them, that might work.
 
I normally just let the axle hang free and then rotate the spring out of its place.


Then again, I don't know anything at all about the springs for a 4x4. Those are longer, I'm sure and therefore you probably can't just do that, right?

Ya not a good idea. Also those look really small. I'd be worried about them breaking off under the constant pressure from a coil spring.
 
Thanks guys, that is EXACTLY how I figured they were to be used, just wanted to clarify. What a joke. I am actually getting ready to order the 4/5 kit in the next few days for my 98. On a scale of 1-10 how hard would you rate the kit to install?
 
9 if your truck is rusted to all hell,


4-5 if it is in perfect condition,


2 if all your nuts are loose.
