3.0 stock.

Surface was just junk. IT was like they used wd40 instead of VHT. I could spin off idle. My best run was a 17.9 when the track was fresh. I was gunning for a perfect 000 R/T and he managed to film my best launch. I was usually .040 or so all night.

thats was and 03 with a 3.0? Holy Crap there is a HUGE difference between the 3.0 and 4.0(sohc). My 03 ranger can hit the speed limiter(92mph) within the 1/4 mile

...tell me about it.

I'm even on small tires (245/45/17) that I expected to increase my FD a smidge.

I do not have anytimes, only mph. I never went to the track. Measured off 1/4mile on my one friends 3/4 mile driveway, when his parents werent home. we even used a radar gun.

I was running like 245/60/16 or something, smaller then stock i know that because i smoked A tire off the line. One wheel peeeeeel.

What kind of yota is that? i smoked a new roush f150. 4.0sohc 5spd and 4.10s= haul ass to 92mph.

Wow, that's alot slower than I would have thought. What's the elevation where your at? My 05 Duratech pulled a 16.36, but it was a standard cab.

i smoked a new roush f150.
it wasnt a stage 3 then.

the stage 2's only receive suspension and aesthetic upgrades, they run the stock 300HP 3v 5.4 (basically, a stock f-150). the stage 3's (roush charged), while heavier and somewhat slower then the lightnings, have 445HP and 500ft-lbs of torque....they will run 14's without sweating. your little SOHC 4.0 wouldnt even be a contender :D

EDIT: ric, sounds like you need to wind it up higher before you shift. i can hit about 80, but im still in the 19 second range with my crappy gearing (id hate to know what my 60' is :D).

that was at 2500 feet elevation or so.

I shift at 5500 RPM or there abouts as the cut off is around 5800. The killer was I couldnt leave with any umph as it was toooooo slippery. My 60 foots were 2.7's or so. If I could get them down by leaving harder, I'm sure I could get deeper into the 17's, but probably not by much.

I shifted between 5700-5800, right where my cut off was too. I don't see that revving a 3.0 higher than 5500 will do much good anyhow. Traction was even a problem for my Duratech. I think with a posi and better tires I could have been a tenth or two faster.

hmm...i wonder if you are shifting too late then. power starts to drop off after 5k RPM (where i was shifting)....but its about level between 4500 and 5000 (and your still making about peak torque at 4000).

no matter how bad your track is....it couldnt be costing you more time then my 31's and 3.73's. im sure my 60' is worse then yours, which means somethings happening on the top end for me to get more mph at a worse time. :dunno:

QUOTE]

"Supercharged 5.4 huh? What's it run?" the driver asks.

Having track-tested the truck the day before, we tell him it'll do zero to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds and the quarter-mile in 14.9 seconds at 93.3 mph.

He breaks out laughing. "Is that all? Jeez, my mom's Camry will show that thing its tailpipe."

We shrug him off as a Toyota tool, but we check the numbers later and it turns out a V6 Camry would get the best of the Roush by a few tenths. Ouch.

14.9 is rather pathetic, however there are a wide variaty of things that could keep it from it from doing its best that one day. What is the Roush rated at for the 1/4? I know one blew by me with a nice whine/howl the other day, sure didn't seem like a slouch then.

I say it all the time, the duratec 2.3 will eat this 3.0 alive. My 03 2.3 was much faster than this 3.0, got (much) better gas mileage and was smoother.

I got a good deal on this truck and just deal with it. I dont typically race trucks... this is just making do until my car is done.

roush doesnt remove the stock 92MPH speed limiter from the truck. race one to 92MPH...see who wins :derisive:
