When I have a full tank of gas the fuel gauge reads 1/8th of an tank.

I disconnected the plug at the engine firewall and I was getting a sparatic 3.5 to 6 ohms of resistance from the sending unit.

My stupid shop manual has no specs range for the sending unit resistance reading.

Depending on the year it is either 0 - 150 or 0 - 75.

:nopityA:I assume the resistance increases when the gas level decreases.

so yeah if I am just getting like 6 ohms with a full tank.. that is a looong way from 75!

I'll do a probe check right at the tank, but it looks like a bad sender.:nopityA:

The brass float probably has pin holes, so it filled with gas and no longer floats.

~$5 part at the dealer.
