What is the redline on a 94' 2.3?? It's seems to be winding pretty hard at about 4,500, but that seems kind of low.

A stock 94 will turn about 6200 before it hits a rev limiter,then it will start fluddering and knocks out a cyl.It will not make any more power with a stock cam after 5600.We have the race truck geared to run 5700 lap after lap.Our truck finished 2nd in points this year,behind a S10 again.

It's seems to lose power after about 4500RPM, that seems kind of low considering it's supposed to make peak power at 4600RPM

It feels like it is making no power after about 45-4600, and sounds like it is going to blow

Don't beleive it will"blow".we have ran our "stock" 2.3 7200 quite a few times after putting in a chip that removed rev limiter but was not making anymore power up there so went back to stock,dropped the gear and run it at 5600.a couple of the guys with carbs and dist.are turning 7500 with stock cranks and pistons,I've heard 8400 on a few occasions but no proof of that.Most guys are running 5 inch memory tachs and are getting a good reading.Go to www.adirondackspeedway.com and look at some of the trucks.Our truck is #5 this year

The block and crank can handle 9000 Rpm +. The stock rods and pistons won't handle much over 7000. I've bumped past 8000 a couple of times but, I don't depend on mine to get me to work on monday.

Couple guys at the track that run 2.3 mustangs,when they hurt their good motor that they run at 8500-9000,will just put a stock one in and a different head,will still turn them 8000 till they get their good one back together.A good,balanced bottom end will run 8000 lap after lap.Granted they are not staying up there,just hitting it at the ends of the straights,then letting off.
