Another engine design.............

Best Idea since the Wankel design (rotary). I love the idea and really want one!

Holy OMG WOW!!!

DROOL!!

Thats pretty neat, though it looks like a broke ass planetary built into a standard engine. I'll have to wait a little longer to see if it's notable.

With the Pistons facing in opposite direction the force on the scissor cam would be too much. The cam system would have to be big and inefficient even to be able to withstand force coming from both directions. close but no cigar.

really?

cause it sure looks like its working there!
the cam only sees force from one piston (and thus, one side) at a time...theres not that much force.

and you can get a good idea of the exhaust note with it mounted on this trike:

sounds neat!

Interesting,,but seems like a rather low reving engine. BTW,, what was the flaw with the wankel?

its a gas guzzler.

And emissions. They pollute alot for their size. The technology for emissions was being implemented right when the wankels started becoming popular in the 70's. Most companies just dropped them and made the more standard otto cycle's work.

The AMC gremlin was supposed to have a 4 rotor wankel in it, but it got canned and they stuffed the 258 and 232 I6's in there at the last minute.

Mazda was the only company to carry through with the design and clean it up enough.

even now the rotary isnt that efficient for the c.i. size of the engine. It does put out some good power though for the size as well!

yeah it seems to be working fine. You might think that in the engineering process they would take into acount the forces exerted on all of the parts. That engine seems to have some pretty good torque. I wonder what kind of mileage and emissions it gets.

why do you say it has good torque, cause it is able to pull a wheelie with 300lbs sitting on top of the wheels.
