96 2.3 no timing advance?

What would put a 96 2.3 into limp mode? I'll take it to auto zone tomorrow to get the current codes. It previously set a code for #2 misfire. Now the timing is not advancing with rpm and is stuck at 10*, limp home mode. I've been searching all day, Please help.

you will probably find a bad ground somewheres,did you recently change anything?what were you doing when it went into limp?Tried a code reader yet?

I really don't know when it started, could be years. These trucks are so slow I didn't notice. The speedo stopped working a couple of years ago. I still need to get to auto zone for a code read.
