I just bought a 2001 4x4 Ranger that has Firestone Wilderness All-Terrain Tires, P245/75R16. Does anyone remember what size were recalled back in about the year 2000? Someone said I should make sure someone didn't put defective ones on it.

I remember my brother had a pair of the recalled ones on either his 'Baru or his Camaro way back then. No clue as to the size.

take your truck back to ford and check if your tires qualify for the recall. however, the recall was for rangers and explorers with 1998-2001 firestone wilderness AT's. after nearly 7 years, they might question why you waited so long to get them replaced. ford might not replace them, because you are not the original owner. they might think your just looking for a free set of tires

+1 if they are 7 years old they need to be replaced wether they are defective or not and i highly doubt anyone will replace them for free after 7years. so IMO if those are OE just go buy some new tires.

I've bought 2 '91 exploders within the last 2 years, and both times, I got a letter from firestone indicating that my vehicle may qualify for the recall on the tires. I guess the VIN must trigger a flag somewhere and they fire off the letter.

if you are referring to the famous explorer blow outs those werent the tires, the problem was that ford recommended and put 26 psi in the tires of a vehicle that weighs over 2 tons just so they could pass the j turn test (this is why cj-7 wranglers were redesigned) as we all know 26 psi is way to low for an suv you gotta run between 35 and 40. the whole firestone thing was a cover up that ford paid firestone to accept the blame for
