Anybody tried this before????

Ok, so i got carried awway online and bought a k&n "cone" filter (think honda cold air intake) for my 94 2.3l thinking i could fab up a intake...umm...Well apparently this is not as simple as my old carburated motors and there is all kinds of vacumme lines, sensors and whathaveyou in the way. Is it possible to eliminate the stock filter in the box and attach the cone to the tube that runs behind my passnger headlight???

Anybody???
 
you can just plug the vaccum lines, i think those are just for when your warming up. you're gonna have to fab an adapter for the maf to the cone though. But if you want my opinion you're wasting your time. alot of people on here have said this before, your original stock setup is a true cold air setup, a cone inside of your hot engine compartment is much further from what you're really after. Unless you build a heat sheild like others have done.

x2. you can look in the tech section on how to make the adapter if you want to. since you already bought it.
 
i have a cold air system on my truck and autozone has adapter plates for MAF. it was like $4.00 and i had to modify it a bit. other than that i plugged vacuum lines into stanless piping. i noticed a power boost.
 
find a ranger with the round air filter housing like my 96 and remove the part where the maf is inside the round plastic part that is attached to the maf is perfect for mounting an after market air filter on or you can but the adapter just thought id give you a cheaper way
 
Look at the site in my signature, it has a picture of the intake I made with a peice of 3" exhaust pipe and a rubber intake coupler from an escort, made a box outta some stainless steel my dad got from work. Put a k&n cone filter on the end.

I just drilled holes in the pipe for the vaccum lines and the intake temp sensor
