Well, I finally got around to changing the plugs on my "new to me 97 2.3.."
Did the drivers side first 'cause they looked to be the toughest and the new ones went in without issue.
I moved around to the passenger side and the front plug's well was full of rust, I should have given it a shot of penetrating oil, but the other side went well so I just blew it out with compressed air and armstronged it..... And snapped it off.. What a horrible noise as the porcelain gave way..
I wound up with the hex jammed in my socket.
After sitting down and cursing myself I went to the tool store and picked up a 1/2" screw extractor ($15), I had to grind about 1/2" off the end 'cause it was too long and hit on the reduced shoulder of the plug..
It worked!
The plugs are all in I have a ton more power, a moose roast in the oven and a cold beer in my hand..
Life is good..
