That's cool. No "V6" badges; wonder what it's got?

And to think it is probably an automatic as well, and it looks too new to have a C-5...

With 35's it would be awfully top heavy.

That's kind of what I was thinking. Probably takes a little patience to get somewhere, with two people and vacation stuff loaded, but it's extremely cool!

I see it's runnin manitoba plates too....any chance you'd be able to get a hold of whoever owns it and see if they'll sell it? I think an sas with a d30, 33's and all the rest of the driveline from my 97' would make own helluva lil camper....

My guess would be electrical fire, or something to do with chassis integrety. Looks like the frame was extended, so it may not pass inspection here.
I'f I could pick it up for $400 I would consider it, but if the chassis is Junk it may be more of a PITA to get roadworthy here.

hmm....I can do chassis work, but the interior and plumbing/roof problems would be more worrysome to me....too bad it wasn't closer and I could have a look.

Even for $400 there is alot of good parts there, the sheetmetal looks mint. I would love to have the hood/fenders and doors for my truck, they look like they are in alot better shape than what I have. You couldn't buy the cheap chinese stuff for that money.

Hmmm...
I would rahter have one of those than a Toyota Dolphin.... damn things are known for blowing up rearends. I saw probably 15 older dolphins on my trip to seattle.
You generally aren't trying to get anywhere in a hurry with any camper/rv....at least not with the older stuff. It took me 4 days of driving at 60 MPH to get from jamestown to seattle and back....and that was running almost 14 hr days. I'll bet that old camper would be nice and happy around 55 on the highway.

the camper body looks like it has many of the same parts as the dolphin/chinook type campers found so often on toyota chassis.
ive got a toyota chinook sitting in my yard right now as a matter of fact. 4 cylinder 4 speed and while it'd probably run the quarter mile in..well..eventually ...it does cruise nicely at about 70MPH once you coax it up to speed.
FYI, it was only the dually rear axles used under the yotas that caused problems. the single rear wheel axles seem to hold up nicely (though, some sway control wold be nice!).

I missed out on one about two years ago...
the one I missed out on was a 1985, 2.8 with a D-E-A-D C5...
It was in south Central Michigan and eventually sold for $900.
It was NICE, with a fiberglass camper body.
Yeah, I HATE 2.8's but I think a Ranger chassis under
a Small RV body powered by... say.... a 4.0 with a 5sp
or mabey even a 5.8 (I have a roller cam 5.8 engine
around here somewhere.) would be neat as hell...
And on that vehicle I don't thing an SAS would be good idea, too tall
and too top heavy.
$x4 conversion? Hell yes!
I'd go with the same stuff I just installed under my '87 supercab,
a 1997 D35 TTB axle. more reliable two piston brakes.
as for the rear axle? Explorer axle with Discs, a motorhome,
even a small one needs all the help it can get.
Oh yeah, 4.10 gears at both ends.
Now all I have to do is find another one...

it would be pretty cool if there was a diesel under that hood
i'd rock it...throw a dually kit on it, and perfect!

I've worked on a lot of toyotas that are little campers like that, never seen a Ranger though.

I'd trade a Kidney for a Ranger based Fiberglass bodied camper like the one I missed that I described in my previous post.

I saw that in the MPI (Manitoba Public Insurance) auction in Winnipeg about a month ago...It was 4 cyl std, and if I remember correctly it was totaled because of hail damage...

thos is what i was thinkin....small block swap into it, full width d60 in the back, eb d44 up front, 5spd with granny 1st and a 205 case, it wouldnt be too bad b/c the full width 60 in the back would stabilized the weight, but make it just like on 33's with 4.56's and a detroit in the back....go drifting in ur RV LOL
