I finally got a 91 Ranger single cab short box 4x4. The 4.0L Motor in it is toast, but I have a motor & tanny out of a 94 Mustang. I need help I plan on lifting the truck, Doing a motor swap.My biggest question is will the 5 speed in the truck hold up or should I put in the t5 from the stang, and doing the wiring harness right I plan on keeping the EFI. Can Painless wiring make a new harness? I plan on taking my time and doing it right. I think this will nice ride by the time I'm done it,with a little help.
Any help would be great.

Thanks

the tranny on the 4.0l probably wouldnt hold up to the v8 and i dont think it will bolt on but if your truck is 4x4 you will need transfer case and bell housing im doin the same swap other then im using everything from an f150 with a 5.0l efi if i were you i would use the stangs transmission

the T5 isnt that great of a trany in a mustang, not to mention it being used in a 4x4 application. I managed to fit in the drivetrain out of a full size truck.not the best plan but it worked.

I was looking at the truck today, and thinking of maybe keeping the 4.0L. Thats if I can get the power out of it to handle a 6 inch lift and 33-35'' tires. But the V8 would be killer in it I think.

lower gears will make up for taller tires....nothin beats the sound of a V8 tho. thing is you gotta rev a 302 a bit to get some power out of it
