I did the dry fitting of all my turbo stuff on to my 94 today! So far it all looks pretty good. I need to find some intake snorkel tubing to get this all finished up and running. I can't wait to start the repin of the harness for the LA3. This thing is gonna be so much fun!

It's going into the 94 Ranger I use as a daily driver. I decided to use yesterday to dry fit the turbo and drill and tap the pan for my oil return line. I got an oil line kit from ebay and I got all the bits and pieces set out and ready to go for when I have the intake elbow and maf adapter. I had to modify the heater box to clear the O2 sensor so I need to make a patch for that. I took one pic on my phone and I'll post it later.

How much did you have to cut out on the heater box? That's something I've been wondering about. I've also been wondering if you could use a GenII Ranger box, that way it would look stock.

I cut a section out of the box that was approx 6" and the height of the box. I have seen other guys drill and tap the exhaust elbow so the O2 sensor doesn't hit the box. I'm still considering doing this and finding a jy heater box just to keep it "stock looking"

Is the O2 the only reason to cut the heater box? IS there a reason the sensor can't be mounted further down stream, more in the Ranger stock location?

I hope the swap goes as planned dude. I started mine three weeks ago and finished completely last Thursday.

For me it was all or bust. I have since put 600 or so miles on it and it's going GOOD!!!

Turboed 2.3 is a quick little bitch, that's all I can say!

Hey insanejughead do you have pics? What computer did you use? I have a ton of questions about pinout changes that need to be done.

I do have some pics. They'd take a while to get up on photobucket and all that because I'm on the slow internet (I use my phone as a modem, it's cheap as hell!)

I used the PC1 that came in my '86 T-bird. There's no difference in it from the LA3 except for being calibrated for a separate ACT sensor and a larger VAM.

It might be better to call me sometime this weekend if you would like to hear what all I had to go through. Pm me if you want my number.

Oh, and I'm jealous as hell that you're doing this swap on a Gen 1. Lucky bastard...!

No this is being done on my 94 reg cab short box. I am really happy with my 85 as it sits now. I was looking for more zip in my dd. BTW thanks for the pm and the link. Much appreciated!

Oh... I'm sure I thought you were doing it on your '85. I probably thought so because of your screen name and the fact that you didn't have the "TURBO SWAP STARTED" in big letters next to your '94.

My bad... I am wanting to turbo my '85 though... I got two of them to mess with.

One's a 2.0, and the other is 2.3 (originally had a 2.8, but it's getting rebuilt... someday)

I was just too excited about the swap LOL. I'm still after a rubber elbow for the intake and the hose that goes from the MAF to the turbo :(

I'm sure you know that's a VAM and not a MAF...

I just want to say that for anybody thinking of doing the swap and getting the two things mixed up.
