When the time comes to rebuild the 2.0 in my 87 Ranger, how difficult is it to swap the carb for a fuel injection setup? Is it just swapping the intake and fuel delivery system, computer and fuel pump? What other additional electrical stuff will I need? Can I use the same head? This will be down the road a good ways, but if it's not a huge PITA I would like to start gathering the stuff I need.

It's a huge PITA to try to put FI on it, stick with the carb, and rather than rebuilding the 2.0 get a 2.3, build it with a 350 cfm holley 2 barrel, then swap it out.

+1 ... the older 2.3 carbed or fuel injected engines are a direct bolt-in...and you can use the wiring and distributor...but may need to add a electronic fuel pump if the block won't take the manual (but you could make that work too...)...
