i am wondering if anyone can tell me what this is. it is located in the pocket behind the driverside jumpseat. i think it is an factory amp for the speakers but am not sure any help would be appricated
what part is this
 
Factory amp would also be my guess.
What's the brand name written on there? Can't seem to make it out.
 
it is something to do with the electric lock up, in the auto (a4ld) I think.
 
NOPE, you are all wrong. That is the 4wd module. It is what controls the shift motor on the transfer case.
It is VERY good to know where that is. There is a reset button next to the red light, If your transfer case quits shifting the first thing to check is that red light.
 
If its under the jump seat on the driverside of a supercab it controlls the electric transfercase motor.
 
thanks for all the help now i now where to start if the 4 wheel drive doesn't work

Yer ALL rong :nono:, it's a flatulence sensor, when the air to gas ratio in the passenger cabin gets close to the ignition point it triggers the climate control system to vent the cabin.
Keep the inlet filter on the unit clean and u'll be OK.

Where can you get them, I know a couple people that are getting them for Christmas.

Yeah, to bad that is not a real thing, I have a V-8 Ranger in my back yard that could use one!! If the owner is reading this he will probably die laughing.

wish i knew to check that before i spent the cash on a new t case motor......
 
Take your motor off and take it apart first. I do believe there is something in the tech library on how to service them.
