My truck has suddenly developed a shudder. If I throttle it hard it's ok, or if I'm not on the gas. When I try to just cruise along smoothly, it starts to shudder. The shudder gets worse the faster I happen to be traveling. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

I had very same symptoms with my truck took it to a mechanic and he said I lost compression on my 6th cylinder although mine had other problems like a loud squeeking sound coming from the engine and the check engine light was on.
If it's strictly road speed (not RPM) dependent, it's not the engine. But it could be just about anything from the transmission back. I'd suspect the rear end (pinion) or driveshaft. Climb under and feel for floppiness.
Engine misses generally are worst at idle and seem to magically go away as the RPM goes up.

I dont know how old this thread is but mine did this for less then a week...could it be the fuel filter? my explorer would be perfect at idle and perfect when you give it gas but when you barely give it gas and your just takin off its hesitent/kinda of pulsating...???
