i wanna get HIDs for my 06 ranger but i dont know if they'll melt my housings or not..

+ 3X Brigther & more consistent illumination of the road

+ Increases visual comfort & reduces fatigue when driving at night

+ Produces blue-white light that is safer because it is closer to natural daylight

+ 10X Longer Lasting. No need to replace for life of the vehicle

+ 35% less power consumption, thus generate much less heat during operation

found this at http://www.squidoo.com/hid-bulbs-halogen-bulbs hope it helps.
I know that I switched the H3 style bulb in my headlight from a 35 watt to 100 watt and it has yet to melt or hurt the lens.

i have hid's for my headlights and they work awsome. i just dont know if they'll melt or ruin the housings of my fogs. balls.

great, cheap, reliable hid web site:

www.vvme.com

Actually it's even better than that, because a greater percentage of the total light output is in the visible spectrum rather than the infared range

(this is pretty much THE advantage to LED lights and why they can be brighter and use less power)

not to thread jack but...

I checked out that site, that is crazy cheap! You said they work really good? Just plug and play right?

no, HIDs run much much cooler, i've been running them in my heads and fogs since 2005.

i've been buying kits off ebay for awhile now for $70 shipped...everyone should invest in them..they are awsome!

so no, they wont melt anything lol

so for 70 bux i can get a hid kit for my truck with ballast lights and wiring, and its legit??? if so sign me up... when i get paid

why 10 kits?, and what k is a bright distinct blue??

6k is as blue as it gets. The 8k is purple. I run 5k in my Fusion and I am going to buy another set for the Ranger. 5k keeps the cops off you.

Edit: The site says 8 10 and 12k are blue to really blue. I roll with people that run 8k's and they are purple like Barney. Maybe I'm color blind. The higher the temp the purpler they get.

I just ordered a set of 6k's from this vvme.com for the truck! Like $66 shipped. The ballasts look the same as the ones I bought from www.fashtek.com for the Fusion for $129 shipped.

i've put them in my explorer(heads/fogs), my roomates explorer(heads/fogs), my dads(heads/fogs), my plow truck, my grandmas 300c(heads/fogs) and my moms durango haha thats why 10 kits...lol

for headlights 6k is about as blue as i'd wanna go....i have 10k in my fogs and they are just blue...depends on the seller on how the color comes out.

the only bad thing about cheep kits is the ballast some times are not as high quality in other words your lights might flicker or not turn on at times but if they got a good warranty then by them and just replaces them if they break.

only time i'ver had issues with flickering or not coming on was on older trucks with old wireing...if you wire in a relay it will be fine. thats how i have most of mine set-up absolutly no issues like that.
