Can you put a Dana 44 TTB in a 85 ranger 4x4

And by is it possible I mean how hard or a pain is it?
 
I tried but I keep getting this?
The search term you specified (44) is under the minimum word length (3) and therefore will not be found. Please make this term longer.
 
look in the tech libary under dana 44 ttb convertion. also why do you want a d44. the d44 knuckles will fit on a d35 if you would rather do that.
 
I got a few 89 bronco and a 85 ranger. Using what I have at hand.
 
well it seems that there are two ways of doing it compared to fabing skillz and what you have for mods. the pivot point on the d44 is aprrox two inches narrower than the ranger. So you can lengthen the shafts and arms. or if you have a lift that has a bit of meat around it. than you can drill a hole in the lift brackets approx 3/4-1" towards center on each bracket. hope this helps. I personaly am going to mod my lift or make new lift brackets.

If you have great fab skills you can duplicate the width of the beam piviot points of the full size to the ranger and stuff the 44 under a ranger. It will widen the track width on a ranger to the same as a fullsize.
 
So if i go full width with the front what will I have to do to get the radius arms (the ones that attach longways with the frame) to work in the Ranger? This is a trail rig and we have very lax laws concerning tires sticking out past the fender so thats not a worry. I understand the pivot points need to be addressed and the ranger already has a 4 inch lift.
 
dude pm 4x4 junkie he has a lot of info about it, I have changed my mind again like the 100th time. but I'm just going to shorten the pass. side shaft 2'' and bolt it up. that way no weak brackets and no weak beams. just custom shaft.
 
I can see weak brackets but not the beams. If i modify the pivot bracket it will be strengthened. I use to build race car chassis and still have all the tools. I just didnt want to dig in and mess something up that others have already found the easier way to accomplish.

I was thinking that if I have someone lengthen the beams and they screw up. then I will have a broken beam that I cant drive home on. if I brake a shaft I can un lock the hubs go into 2wd and drive home. plus I don't know anybody around here I trust to weld it up.
 
why do all this? Just do a SAS with a Dana 44 narrow, or full width.

I have one already from my old bronco, and I want the full width. So runn what you have.

Because that was not a option I asked about. I drove a 86 Ford 4x4 all over the desert when I was in the corp. I beat the crap out of it and I never had a problem with the TTB. Buddy had a 78 truck and it beat him up.
