hey guys im new here but ive got a 2000 ranger with a 2.5 and i am thinking about converting it to a 4x4.via jeep dana30 front axle 4x4 tranny and t-case ect. gas prices are really whats pushing this and the fact i rolled it and the body is already beat to crap. my fab skills are good enough to do it but i would like some feed back. nothing big just maybe 33's or so.

dont take this the wrong way, but gas prices are what made you decide to take a short, light truck and make it taller and heavier?

I would love to have a 4cyl 4x4... if I had one it would be pretty much stockish though.

If you start getting big meats the advantage of a four cylinder will go away.

thanks for the input guys. the conversion wont cost that much cuz ive got most of the parts lying around. iv got a good daily driver(even though its not a ranger) and a 4cyl ranger on 33's will still not drink as much gas out playing as say a 85 bronco with a 351 (8.5mpg) in very good running condition.

go for it man. y links are the big thing for jeepers. they are pretty easy to build if you have fab skills.

id go with a coil setup over leafs. as long as you get the dana 30 hp, which comes out of YJs and XJs, you should be ok. you will need to use a 85.5 up to mid 90s toyota steering box. you will also need to build a set of coil buckets or get a set off of an older model ranger. id just build the buckets if your going this far anyway.

good luck and cant wait to see so pics.
