looking a my Buddy's late80s 1 ton ford used to be a u haul. but its rear shackles are the same as the rbv in measurements down to the fraction but twice as beefy when compared the rbv shackles are very light
has any body looked at this or done this change over i will be doing it next week end if i can find a set .ill try to get pics today of the shackles i speak of .

ive heard of virtually no failures of the shackles on an RBV. usually the spring hangers themselves go before the shackles.

not to say that it wouldnt be a quick, cheap upgrade...

I had the weld break on mine, so I just rewelded it stronger (didn't take much) than Ford did.

The truck was probably 15-16 years old at the time, so I imagine fatigue played a large role in it.

for the build it your selfers

i thought they would be a better base to start a boxed lengthened shackle they are stamped out much heavier gage . buddys not around for pics will get them up.

so did i but this is a old u haul 2wd late 80s climbed under and put a tape to it they are perfect fit as far as i can tell trying to get my buddy works the oil patch so its hard to hook up with him . ill have the year and all next post

here they are

1 ton rear shackles
1 ton rear shackles
