I also have a non MP3 cd radio in my 2004 Ranger, will it work in that? Is it a worthwhile swap?

Yes, it will work, but you need to either make a jumper harness, or splice a new connector on to your original wiring. Installer.com has all of the connectors you will need. There may be some adapter harnesses already made on eBay...I think I have seen them there before.

As for the '04, I can't say. I do not know if the connectors changed then or not. Pull out the radio and check. If the connector is the same, it should work.

it will work. It is the same as hooking up any aftermarket cd player
