jet chip pros and cons?!?

what are the pros and cons of getting a jet chip for my ranger?
will it cause any engine damage? or does it just give you a performance boost?? cause i am kinda restraining my self from buying one cause i dont know if it will do any long term damage to my engine i know this might not be the right forum please dont give me to much crap for it, i posted it here cause it get more veiws faster n e way let me know!!!!!!

Ferrari pays Ford $100 per Ranger not to install a performance chip. Ferrari doesn't want the Ranger crowding into its market share.

sorry i have a horrible memory and that was a long time ago lol, i am just trying to gain a few horses and torques cause i haul alot of stuff and dont have the money for a bigger vehicle so i wasnt trying to race my ranger or anything lol that one about ferrari is classic tho lol
