Well, a B2300 should have a 2.3 litre motor and a Mazda tranny.

You'll find a white sticker on the front of the timing belt cover, it'll tell you the month/day/year the motor was assembled. Or, in the case of a swapped motor, at least the day the sticker was slapped on the cover.

The VIN will tell you what engine was originally installed. That'll help if the original engine was swapped out for a completely different one, fer instance a V6 put in place of a I4.
