I only see one screw, down at the bottom of the panel at the bottom, rear corner. I also don't see any screw for the (manual) window roller-downer handle. After removing the screw, I try to pull the panel off, but it seems quite stuck there and feels like some plastic is going to snap if I pull any harder.

Look in the door handle indent (in the arm rest). There is a screw in there. There is a screw at the rear of the door at the bottom (I think you found it). Behind the shaft end of the window crank, there is a clip which must be removed (it's a kind of C shaped clip). Push the door panel towards the metal to get space. Get the clip out, the handle will side off the shaft. After you remove the 2 screws and the clip, SLIDE the panel up without pulling away from the door (there are plastic hooks on the back side).

also check the window crank some models have a cover for a philps head screw instead of the c clip previously mentioned

Ya, it took me about 10 minutes of scratching my head not to find the c-clip. :) The model I have has a cover that took me a little while to figure out how to remove, thus revealing the torque screw.

I took pictures all the way thru. I may make a small tutorial to help contribute something to the site.
