Nobodys a newbie as of yet. Only when they first buy their first Ranger are they true noobs.

Hey, post count isn't all that important.
I never had the highest post count, but if anyone was counting typed words I'd have been far ahead of the next three places down...
Of course it helps that most of my posts required several scrolls to read them all, but then again that tends to happen when you are explaining (in detail) how to convert from a 2.9 to a 4.0:)

This is the real TRS. As to say the original owner of TRS has started this site after much of the info was taken over.
By the way I found a sweet locker for my truck. Found a sweet deal on discount used ones. Can get details for anyone that wants one. They are from the local high school.

The best use I've found is that groups of A4LD's make great artificial reefs. There is a plentiful supply of the raw material, and fish are attracted as they don't stain the water, like cast iron does.

OK, I've got an older ranger with a 2.0. I've welded the 7.5 rearend, also welded the the D28 up front. I just put on a set of new IROC 49 inch tires. It good to see the sight up and running.

First off the D 28 and 7.5 can hold up to 50" tires so you are good there;)

You don't need to start on a hill if you have 3.08 gears. Cuz the engine doesn't have to turn as much to make the tires turn, so if you floor it to 5000 rpm, then your tires will turn at about....a bajillion rpm!

I think that's where the noise is coming from. Does anyone know where I can get some grease for in there? Oh and what's this I hear about blinker fluid?
Get earplugs. They work for the brake squeal, lifter tap, loose body panels--everything just about.
You only have blinker fluid if you have hydraulic turn signals. Check the manual. You can get one at helminc.com if you don't have one for your truck.
Capt Jay
08-13-2007, 08:57 PM
Just turn up the stereo, it cures all squeals.
Blinkers on the older trucks are not hydraulic they're mechanical. All you need to do is check the cable tension. They should be between 3ft/lbs-127ft/lbs. Hope that helps.

I'm guessing it's because you put diesel fuel in the generator. You need to use a mixture of Used gear oil and snow bowl toilet cleaner and it must be exactly a 50/50 mixture if your off by an ounce it wont run. Also I think you forgot to plug it in. Make sure you cut off the ground terminal before you do or it won't work. RB

$400.00 Generator, $150.00 Air conditioner attached to a $50.00 car. Can't say his priorities aren't in the right place.
If you notice his tail light is in the wrong place. This goes back to my earlier post. Blinker tension cable is way to tight causing lens misalignment. If you back it off just a little that light will slip right back into place.

I picked up an electric cooling fan from an Escort from the junkyard (only cost me $95 bucks, suckers). If I put this on my Ranger (2.3L H.O.), how much horsepower will it add? I already got one of those resistor chips from e-bay, will this put me in the 12's?
This all depends on the first 2 digits of your vin #. If it starts with 1F it will probably run low 10's. If it starts with 2F it probably won't start. The only way to fix the problem is to buy a new vin#. I can get you won for under 10G. Cool part is the vin# comes with some ocean front property up in your area. RB

I think I found your problem, It is a short between the seat and the steering wheel. Oh yea, I have a rod sticking out the side of my oil pan. Can I keep driving it till I win the lottery? I am planning on driving it to cuba next week and was just wondering if duck-tape would fix it.:pray::pray::pray::pray::tease::tease::wo ot:

Duct tape helps, but the best thing to do is fill your oil pan with about 12 quarts of Lucas transmission fix-it. It will seal that thing up nice. I used the stuff on my 2.9 when it started ticking and it worked great. The engine never ticked again. It also never ran again, but that might have been the effect of me bolting a 4-barrel carburetor onto the throttle body for more airflow. I'm still not sure what went wrong there. :icon_confused:
Also, don't take the interstate when you go to Cuba. It's under a lot of construction right now. Your best bet is to just take 2 lane roads. :icon_thumby:

Duct tape always helps :D BUT! if you want to fix the rod thing you better use some super glue...or...something. :icon_thumby: and a 4 barrel on a 2.9?? COME ON! you gotta think man! 2.9's need WAY more air flow than that - try to find a 6 pack next time. :D

Hmm, how to convert a 2.9 to a 4.0
"Buy a newer truck."
Umm, that's only 4 words. You must be padding your responses a bit.
Funny Dave :-)
If I ever convert my 92 it will be from 3.0 to 4.9. There are still a lot of 92 Mustangs ripe for the picking. Newer is more expensive and mine hauls wood and recyclables so newer isn't an option.

I hate this tread.
Honestly, I get a headache from all the groaning required to read it!
I think my automotive IQ may have just hit the floor.....
