Question on trans temp

I have a 94 ford ranger 4.0 automatic with manual OD and bought a trans. temp guage. I was wondering if there is any plugs to remove where i can put the sensor? and what for temp range should it be running at?

the way it was explained to me by a tranny shop and i will pass it on to you, is that your initial temp reading will be what ever temp your motor is at. example: if your coolant temp is 180* that is the temp that your fluid is returned to the tranny, when you hook up the cooler it should drop fluid temp by another 50-60*. to hook up your cooler you will run from the return on your radiator[ the back line on your tranny] through the cooler then back to your return line.

ok thanks on the temp. part but do you know if there is an easy place to put my guage sensor or will i have to drill a hole and make a spot?

if you clicked on the click here for answer in exbass's reply he showed you where to screw in the sensor right down to the thread size and pitch.FWIW if you are looking for an easy place in the cab it all depends on what is in the way on your firewall, or you can pull your floormat to expose your trans tunnel and cut a hole big enough to slide the sensor through with a grommet and boot so you don't damage the sensor lead[they don't like kinks or sharp bends] and when you get the hole cut you can lay the floormat back and cut the hole through that as well, putting the grommet in the hole in floorpan and the 'boot' on after the mat has been layed in place with the sensor through the boot then through the mat and grommet then screw the boot to the floorpan using self tapping screws.

ok thanks i got the sensor in now im going to mount my guage down from my headliner between my visors.
