Great site you guys run here! I've been driving a 96 2.3 ranger for work; when i first started it had 123k miles, now it has almost 140k. I just bought the truck from my boss since I am leaving him and starting a new job, and he gave it to me super cheap. Unfortunately, he wasn't one to give much care to his vehicles, but this just shows how strong and well made these rangers are!
The body on mine is great, paint still looks great. It's a short cab, I wish it was extended but hey, beggars can't be choosers!
I'm in the process of making this truck "my own." I just put on new shocks, changed all the fluids, put on a nice seat cover, cleaned up the interior and exterior, did a tuneup with plugs, air filter, fuel filter, etc. I can't believe how well it runs for a truck with this many miles!
Next, I want to paint the grill white to match the body, get a new bumper since mine is dented, and throw in a new clutch soon.
I've been using this site for the past couple of weeks to figure out the little glitches, and annoyances!
For example, simple things such as the dome light switch in the door being filthy and not working (wd40 fixed it right up, I hated not having a dome light!) to pain in the ass things such as changing the fuel filter! I got the plastic quick release and metal tools to change the fuel filter, and the cheapo plastic one worked better for me!
Thanks guys, I'll be sticking around for a while. I plan on keeping this truck for a long time, even after I get a new car. It's dependable, durable, and gets great mpg! I average about 26mpg right now, but hopefully it'll go even higher when I change plugs, wires, clean MAF, and slow down a little bit!
