I just filled up my wifes van and my truck for less then 11.00.
The kid at the gas station punched in the wrong price. Instead of 3.94/gal
he had it .394. Worked out pretty good for me.

My wife wants me to go pay them the difference. I told her forget it.

oops his bad, ya its your gas now i wouldnt pay, reminds me of when i went to a gas station late at night and said 20 on number 12 and he gave me 50 on 12 which was cool for me

Your wife is right. I hope I never have to do business with you. You made an agreement when you started to pump the gas--you knew what you were going to have to pay. Some kid screws it up and you use that as an excuse to drive away without paying for your gas.

Then you post that trash here?

v8power you sound just like my dad, haha, but I wouldve done the same thing
congrats

Ethically, Will's idea is sound, but unreal and naive in todays world. Also, calling the post trash is a bit much.

It is not up to the customer to teach the employee his/her job. If I hire someone who is incompetent, that is on me, not the customer.

No agreement is made anywhere. If there was, in this case, it would be that I would pay what I was charged by the attendant.

If he/she overcharged me, I would bring it to the attendant's attention as I would be doing my job. If one was overcharged, and didn't notice, (which has happened to me several times), just go back and try to get your money back. It works both ways.

Recently in Texas, the state closed some 60 something gas stations because they were charging for gas they didn't deliver. Will any of the customers get a refund? Haven't yet.:)shady

The gas station chooses to hire the crack addict workers they do. And anyone who isnt smart enough to realize that 50 gallons of gas doesnt go for 11 dollars these days deserves to be reamed.

On one hand I feel a little sorry for the station, because really, they don't make much off their gas, especially if it's just a mom and pop place. The profit is already made before it hits the station.

Now on the other hand, you KNOW somebody is gettin rich off that fuel at your expense.

I would probably run with it.

For your information the pump had the price of .394

So yeah you are correct i KNEW what I was paying for gas.

I hope you have good balance Will, If you ever fall off your high horse you will probably hurt yourself.

I have had many instances of this type of thing in my life. One thing I know is that if you don't make it right, it will stick with you. It reflects your character. We all know it was a mistake you profited from. It was stealing, pure and simple.

I don't have a high horse. Don't try to deflect your misdeeds by painting me up something I am not. What I am, is honest. My one rule is that I never do anything that interferes with my sleep. If someone fucks with me, I get in their face. If I am undercharged or find something in my cart the cashier didn't see, I go back in and fix it. The relief on their face is worth the few bucks, trust me.

I am astounded you posted this. At best, you could have slinked off and not said anything. I am not going to slap your back for ripping someone off.

and again, your wife is cut from the right stuff

Ethically speaking, in this case Will is right.

However, V8power is under no obligation to return to the gas station and make up the difference. The "agreement" between Customer and Business is made when payment for services is given/recieved. In this instance, the business (mistake or not) chose to demand $0.394/Gallon as payment. The transaction was completed under those terms, and since there is no contract stating otherwise, he's well within his bounds.

Personally I woulda felt bad, and would have paid the difference to the cashier on hand.

I agree with Will, but it's up to you...

I had a girl give me change for $100 one night in a bar and I gave her a $20...I wasn't paying but the buddy I was with was...I showed him the money she gave me back and he said "wTf"....we told her the mistake and she bought us a couple of beers...

It's Karma...comes around...goes around...if you give it back you'll probably win the lottery and have enough forever...if you don't...well...you will probably find yourself in a postion where you lose the same amount you gained...or more...

BTDT...

You do realize those two sentences are contradictory, right?

He might be under no LEGAL obligation, but he ABSOLUTELY has an ethical and moral obligation. Which are the ones that determine what kind of guy he really is.

Will is right here. Period. Full stop. End of story.

Good point.
