Can the rod on the master cylinder be removed?
Is there a different rod length for different gen rangers or different engine sizes?

The reason I ask, I put a master cylinder from a 96-97 ranger 3.0 into a 90 ranger 2.9. Also the pedals are from a gen 3 ranger, not sure of year or engine size. It seems the rod is to short, the pedal is halfway to the floor, and I cant get a full stroke out of it. If I unhook the pedal it comes up a another couple of inches.
I think if I can extend the rod a little it would work.
Thanks

TireIron and I tried removing the rod during my swap and it just would not come out. This is on a 98 master cylinder.

it comes out. there are metal clips that hold it into the master.

there is no difference in length between engine sizes.....there may be a difference between the generations of trucks though. i know the gen 3's have a longer cab and possibly different pedal position then the gen 2's.

If anybody has this problem inthe future. The rod does defenitly come out. 2 metal tabs kinda inside were the shaft is. I cut and threaded the rod, and used a long nut type thing from the hardware store. Now I have an adjustable length master cylinder rod. Thanks.
