IMHO 2.5" sounds the best, the 44 should be a bit deeper/louder than the 40.

2.5" pipe is perfect for the 4.0. The 40 series also sounds great. Expecially with dual outlets.

heres a flowmaster
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xo0eJU7A0c8

the flowmaster aka rustmaster and dronemaster is louder the max flow is deeper and smoother and way less drone and down low sounds closer to a v8 than the flow in my 02 and the max flow is a strait thru muffler its not chambered. having exhaust gases uncompress into a chambered muffler and then recompress to go thru the tail pipe is poor performance where as the max flow is like having no muffler there helping keep the velocity up as long as the pipe size is not too big

Mine's 2.5" from the y-pipe back with a highflow cat and a Flowmaster Delta Flow 40 Series with dual 2.5 tailpipes. And this weekend I'm welding on 3.25" angle cut tips. I noticed a power gain throughout the entire RPM range not just topend. And I sounds so good, it's pretty loud outside, and on the highway with the windows up it's almost not noticable. Perfect for me. But the best part of it is, at idle, the dual pipes almost have a rumble that resembles a 5.0.

2.25in is plenty...Get the American Thunder Cat-back from Flowmaster...not loud like a 40 but it has a great rumble..

I ran a 40 series liek your describing on my 4.0 and it swas too loud and droned alot but if you want loud go for it

i would look all over youtube if i was you for sound clips first then decide what you want. everyone is different. but hearing the sound clips you can track down what you want. Nothing like spending a few hundered on exhaust work to find out you hate the sound or its too loud.....

No.:nono:

Driving mine around for 2 days before I got my tailpipes bent up was horrible.
I was almost kinda ricey and so obnoxiously loud, my buddy told me it sounded like a Honda with an open manifold passed his house. That and it melted the plastic around my e-brake cable.

Oh, so you don't have a cable that goes from the driver's side across the axle and into the passenger's side drum?

Your parking brake must suck, only locking one wheel...
