i have a 95 2.3
my timing belt blew
so i bought a new timing belt and put it on lining the timing marks up and it wont start it startsed once and then just died out any ideas?

also theres two timing marcs on the pullies theres a triangle and a diamond which ones do i line up?

the triangle usually lines up to a mark on the head. if the vavles are fine, maybe a crank position sensor? just a guess. does it still turn over? or does it do nothing? you are sure no valves bent?

Not a interference motor, won't bend the valves.Look down a little farther and see where this was talked about yesterday

You need to align the "DIAMONDS" at 12 o'clock on both the camshaft and crankshaft pulleys on your motor. The crankshaft keyway should also be at 12 o'clock.

Relieve the tension on the tensioner first and tighten the bolt to hold it there. It's a lot easier to get the belt on this way. Line up the marks and install the belt counterclockwise. Then slowly loosen the bolt holding the tensioner to put tension back on the belt. Recheck your marks and if they're still good then rotate the engine by hand a few times to make sure everything lined up. If everything's good then tighten BOTH tensioner bolts back up and put everything back together. One bolt is 17mm and the other is 13mm.

If it does'nt line up then try until it does. Good Luck!
