I was at a car show and seen this. What can you tell me about it? All I know is it was made in the US. Their were no badges or names on it. Thanks

What kind of truck is this?

don't know what it is,but i like!:icon_thumby:

looks like a scout. I think

Scout. Made by International Harvester; looks to be late 60's, early 70's. They are fine trucks, and you don't see the short hardtop often. Usually see 'em (which is rarely!) with the full hardtop, topless or with the canvas top.

Yep, looks to be a scout.

It is a Scout II and as far as I know, it is not a truck. Just a regular old Scout II, but it has a pickup top on it (essentially just a VERY short regular top).

This truck looks longer than a Scout. Scouts are 4x4's, this is a 4x2. This truck has no side marker lights like a Scout. Who was the parent company of Scout?

I second the International Harvester Scout II vote, it has a lot of apearance mods so that someone changed it to 2wd is a possibility, and shaved the lights and emblems. They had different packages for length, the shorter one is alot more common. IH broke up in the 80's and the truck division of IH is now who makes the Power Stroke diesels for the Superduties (about any diesel Ford F-Series actually). The AG division was bought by Tenneco/Case and has been pedaled around so much I don't know how much of it is still IH other than the name.

I spent my weekend working on a '67 IH 1100 truck, they seem like a very well built rig. My great grandfather bought it pretty much brand new, it was a dealership demonstrator truck

its definately the International Harvester.. im not sure its a scout.. it does look big for one of them and it seems to have the same nose as one of the pickups or their travelalls. Years back in like 86 i had one of the old scout pickups and it had like a four foot bed on it and it was an old county truck. It was tough and solid..i dern near broke my ankle when the door closed on it.. they were tough and i swear they used real thick metal on em. they were available as two wheel drive too although most were 4wd

It is a scout...probably NOT stock, which explains the length. IH was split in 86... Part went to tenneco/Case to become Case IH tractors, who stil is in business and is where the IH logo and trademarks went, and the truck divison went to Navistar, who still makes International trucks. They got the rights to most IH non ag engines. A SBIH is generally larger than a BBF/BBC, from my experiences. They are low speed torque monster engines.

2wd was availiable. Body rot was an issue in salt areas.

I am a fan of the old Loastars, and I would like to try to do a CTD 5.9 swap in one at some point.

That is one thing we noticed with ours, it is kinda nice to be able to have a truck that you can lean on the fender and not all but crumple it in. Our 304 acts alot like our 400 Ford just driving around, we haven't had a trailer on it and probably won't. It is a huge engine, alot bigger than my 289 which has the same block as a 302. It had the certified power ratings on a plate on the door, I think it was about 180 hp, I don't remember the RPM and no torque was given.

They did have some bad rust issues (ours with 55k on it needs a dr side floorboard) and I think the Scouts also had problems with the doors staying attached to the vehicle, not sure if the trucks did or not.

Didn't IH make a vehicle like that called the Traveller or did that have a full top?
