1996 Ranger Supercab, AMFM Cassette, removed Factory radio and went to put in aftermarket radio and cannot find info or correct harness adapter. Radio number is partially missing but what i can make out is "****-198183 **" or something to that effect if that helps. Connections the back of the radio is the flat/long conector with the power and ground. Other is Square 16 pin. Found a scorche connector that will fit the small square but it only has 8 pins in the connector. The adapter that i do have from scorche says i need to use there inverter??? Is there an amp to bypass? If so where and how? It never fails i find the odd ball. Anyone had similar issue? Ive installed alot of stereos but never ran into this before. Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated.

Metra is showing only one plug for the Ranger, the number is 70-5600. In the unlikely event your truck has an amp (not likely) the plug would be a 70-5603. However Ford amps can handle hi level input so the 70-5600 will still work

OK got it working. Found the amp behind the pasenger side rear speaker. It would not accept the hi-level inputs. I printed a wiring schmatic and just cut the AMP out of the circuit and tied them into corrosponding wires. Worked beautiful. I could not find a harness to bypass the AMP at AUTOZONE,WalMart or ADVANCE. But fix was easy enough. Thanks for any puts. As im not much of a Ranger mechanic(although im getting lots of experience) im sure youll see other posts in the forum trying to pick peoples brains as i work the bugs out of this bad boy...
