i just did a 5 speed swap in a 86' bronco and i was wondering if i need the crank spacer that was used for the flex plate to bolt on with the flywheel. i bolted everything up but when i turn the key over the starter doesnt catch the teeth of the flywheel(brand new flywheel). i took the starter out and did a bench test on it and the starter seemed fine, after that i bolted the starter back in and i get nothing, the gear in the starter spins but it doesnt engage into the flywheel, it looks as though the flywheel is blocking part of the starter from it engaging. so does the crank spacer in the automatic flexplate do the same job as if i were to bolt a flywheel in?
