Hi all, I am looking all over but haven't yet found this information.

What are the dimensions of the boxes availbale on these trucks? Do they differ based on ext cab or not? I have seen some info on the long box... are they always just 6' or 7'?

What I'm really wondering is if it's nasty to put 4x8 sheets of plywood or gyprock in the box. I know they aren't wide enough between the wheel wells but what about proped up on the side a bit, etc.

Thanks for your input!

Most extended cabs featured a 6' bed. Regular cabs got either a 6' bed or a 7' bed.

I'm not sure if a stepside bed will take a full width of plywood, I would assume that they would have more than four feet between the bedrails though.

I've loaded 4x8 sheets of material in my Ranger before with the 6' bed. You have a couple options, I've run them down in at an angle from the top of the tailgate to the front of the bed before ( |\|cab ), but if you have a lot of material you may want to think of doing it with the tailgate down or off. IIRC, Ranger beds typically have a bump in them, one in front of the wheelwells by the cab and one behind towards the tailgate just right for fitting a piece of 2x4 flat across (some may have a spot on the wheel wells too), and then you can lay the sheets of material flat across everything. You could also leave the tailgate down and lean them in there as well. Just be sure that you secure the load good no matter which way you pick, I lost a sheet of blue foam out the back once cuz I didn't tie it in good enough.

Awesome info lil Blue Ford, thanks. :)
