Hi All

I recently bought a James Duff 6" lift kit to install on my 1989 ranger. Now I know that the instructions are simple, but they didn't come with anything for the rear instalation. My questions are, do I need to keep the block under the leaf springs or is that a factory lift piece? Also, does anyone have any pictures of there shackles, I was in a hurry when i removed mine and forgot to note the correct orintation to remount them. And did anyone find that they couldn't mount the passenger side shock due to the shock body contacting the axel housing?

Thanks

The block is factory. I would expect having to retain it with the lift.

This help at all on the shackle? (its a stock shackle that's been extended)

what lift did you get? the stage 3?
the deaver leaves james duff uses in the stage 3 are 3" lift, you have to keep your block for the 5.5 inch lift.same with add a leaves if you have those

i've had shock issues on the pass. side with the sway bar but not the axle tube?

Thanks for the replies guys,

See the shackle is whats throwing me off....I have mine like that right now but my buddies truck has it flipped around the other way so that the flat side is facing the rear of the truck instead of the front like in your picture. And thanks for the help with the block, I figured it was something like that I just wanted to double check.
I know I thought it was weird too that the shock body was contacting the way that it is, so I just installed the shocks upside down.

I don't think having the shackle installed either way would make any difference.

If you install it the other way you don't get near as good of a shackle to spring angle. With it the other way you get like a 45* angle, with it the proper way you get right around the 90* angle you want.

How would the straight line between two points change by how the shackle is mounted? :icon_confused:

I had mine the other way around for a bout a year before I realized it was backwards. I always wondered why my shackle angle didn't look right compared to others with the same set up. All I know is it made a difference.
