so im cleaning the inside of my 89 after camping this weekend. im listioning to the cd player and all of the suddon my wipers come on, i thought i mite have bumped the switch. so i try to shut them off, (nothing) then my squirters start spraying and i can shut them off eaither, i unplugged the pump and pulled the fuse. i just put over 800$ into rebuilding my frontend. im just sick of things breaking in my truck. i fix one thing and another breaks. i think its time to get rid of it. if i do my floor mats,lights,cb,cd deck,speakers,and my tires and wheels i will keep. i think im gonna ask 1500 FIRM:dunno:

It's probably just the switch on the column...they're easy to replace...I've got two of them in my box for spares...but I've only ever had to replace one once...just had an extra on from my first Ranger...

After putting $800 into the front end I'd say a $5 switch would be an easy expense to handle...

I know what you mean though...seems like the parts draw straws as to what breaks after you finish fixing or modifying another part...I've had a standing list of things to do with my Zuk for about a year now...every time I think I can get one done something else messes up...so I just focus on what REALLY needs to be replaced at this point...
 
I had the same problem with my 96' Ranger. But the wipers came on just when I was thinking about it. Almost as if I was phsyic or had ESP. The solution the problem was to disassemble the switch and clean the grease and contact points. After that, never had a problem again.

Cost to me, FREE, and about 30minutes of my time.
 
That type of problem has never been a complaint on these trucks. I think it's extremely rare for an RBV to just pice of shit out like that. As hammered as my B2 is, even the cruise control still works. I've never complained about the general quality.
 
well im getting a switch and im gonna fix everything!
 
id say if that 2.9 didnt have close to 300k i would be interested cause my 5.0 is making me mad,
 
well last night i broke a headlight, the bulb cameout, will my buddy who was in a hurry put it in crooked :temper:. when i hit a mud hole hard it snapped were the bulb gos into the light:buttkick:. i went to the junk yard before my frist auto tech class and they had 2 crystal clear lights, the would only give them to me with the houseing. so i got both for 50$:yahoo:. i went to ford to get a wiper switch....119$:yahoo::black_eye:,i got a new flasher+turn single switch...24.87$:yahoo:. tomorrows plan postive batt cable, install pos and new negtive cables,price a elighnment, and muffler. get rubber hose for fenders,get a new rear diff breather tube.get a pinion seal.go get a longer cb antenna. if i get this all done. friday i will get diff fluid changed,tranny,oil, changed too. then ill toss new plugs in along with a new air filter:icon_thumby:. i need to clean my throttle body too. any tips on that?:icon_confused:
