My steering isnt loose but I have the same problem with it not returning to center. I have to turn the wheel just a little the opposite way to get ittio center. I hope some one can tell us what to do.

There is an adjusting nut on the top of the box. It has a slot cut into it so you can hold it still with a flathead screwdriver while turning it with a wrench.

However, it only adjusts the preload and will mast the real problem. In some cases it can make it worse or cause failure.

I would check all your front end linkages and steering parts. If all else fails find a new box in a junkyard. They are used on almost all ford truck/vans.

All my linkage is fine up front and all of my steering is tight. I just doesnt want to center itself. But this doesnt happen all of the time ( about 80% ).

Rangerrager I am not trying to hijack your post I jsut didnt seem to be getting any response on my initial post.
