Making Gap Guards

I went to Home Depot and bought some pond liner and cut out some front gap guards but I don't know what to do with the back. Can I just drill through the bottom of the bed where the metal is crimped together or is there a better way to do it?

I used plastic landscaping edging for my bed. The plastic edging is about 4" tall and has a "tube" on the top. This gives it rigidity. I simply drilled holes in the pinch weld, painted the holes on both sides to stop rust, and used black aluminum rivets to mount it. Worked great.

that is what I was thinking of doing but I wasn't sure if that was a bad idea

I used a piece of checkerplate on my truck. It matches the pattern on the top of my bumper, so it sort of half-a$$ looks stock.
